Ingredients
Scale
1 cup rolled or quick oats
4 cups water (more or less depending if you like your milk thinner or thicker)
2 Medjool dates
Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Soak the oats in enough water to cover them for at least 30 minutes. You can soak them overnight.
- Drain the oats through a strainer and rinse them with fresh water. This helps to make sure the oats don’t have a slimy consistency. Discard soaking water or add it to your favorite smoothie.
- Using a high powered blender combine soaked oats, dates, water, & salt (mine is a DASH), blend for 3-4 minutes.
- Strain the oat milk mixture using cheesecloth, a fine strainer, or nut milk bag (I used Bigger Better Nut Milk Bag).
- Store in a sealed container for up to 5 days. Shake before using.
Notes
You can omit the salt if you are watching your sodium intake.
Add-ins
cinnamon, nutmeg, or cocoa/cacao for a little chocolatey treat
