It’s time to trade up to a healthier form of bacon.
Simple to make… delicious to eat.

Tempeh is made from soybeans that have been chopped and fermented. It’s good for your tummy, too, because it contains prebiotics and helps reduce inflammation.

Marinating the tempeh is the key to success in this recipe. The longer, the better. You could even marinate it overnight.

Great as a TLT (tempeh bacon, lettuce, and tomato) sandwich on a crunchy whole grain bread.

Tempeh is made from soy beans that have been chopped and fermented.

Ingredients

Scale

4 ozs Tempeh (1/2 package)

2 T. Low Sodium Soy Sauce

1 T. Maple Syrup

1/2 tsp. Liquid Smoke

1/2 tsp Garlic Powder

Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. On a cutting board, cut tempeh into long slices. The thinner you cut it, the crispier it will be.
  2. Combine soy sauce, maple syrup, liquid smoke, garlic powder, and black pepper in a small bowl to use for the marinade.
  3. Place the marinade in a shallow baking pan. Place the sliced tempeh strips into the dish to marinate. Let sit for 10 minutes or longer. Flip the tempeh and marinate at least 10 more minutes. The longer it marinates, the more flavor it will have.
  4. Place the tempeh strip into an air fryer basket or oven leaving space between the pieces. Cook at 320F for  8 minutes. Flip the tempeh strips after 4 minutes. The time will vary depending on your air fryer and how crisp you want the tempeh bacon.
